SAVANNAH, Ga. (April 5, 2010) JCB announces Yale Lift Trucks of Florida and Georgia as a new full line dealer joining its expanding dealer network. For nearly 30 years, Yale Lift Trucks of Florida and Georgia has been a market leader in material handling with more than 20,000 pieces of equipment sold and serviced. Today, the company announces that they are adding the full range of JCB construction equipment to their line-up. Sending a strong statement to the market, the new division will be named JCB of Florida and South Georgia and will remain under the same ownership and management as Yale Lift Trucks of Florida and Georgia. The company will service JCB customers from their four existing locations in Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, and Tifton, Georgia.

“We are proud to welcome JCB of Florida and South Georgia to the JCB family. Their outstanding reputation and their strong commitment to the customer make them a valuable partner for us. We look forward to a long and successful relationship,” says John Patterson, chairman and CEO of JCB.

Sandy MacKinnon, CEO of Yale Lift Trucks of FL and GA and the new JCB division

Both JCB and Yale Lift Trucks of Florida and Georgia are family owned and operated businesses. That is one of the qualities that attracted Yale Lift Trucks CEO, A.D. “Sandy” MacKinnon to JCB. “The culture at JCB is very similar to the culture we have at Yale Lift Trucks. Being a family owned business we believe in the same principles of hard work, cooperation and quick decisions,” says MacKinnon. Growing up in Detroit, MacKinnon always had a love for the wheels of industry. He began his career in the equipment industry at a Yale dealership in Michigan just after graduating college. He quickly rose through the ranks holding various positions within the organization before becoming National Sales Manager for Yale Materials Handling. Mackinnon purchased existing Yale dealerships in Orlando and Tampa in 1982 and later expanded to include two additional locations in Jacksonville and Tifton, Georgia. The dealership has been awarded the “Dealer of Excellence” for fourteen years; one of two dealerships in North America to earn this distinction.

Yale Lift Trucks of Florida & Georgia has a strong customer following and a solid reputation built on an unmatched service model. “We make it easy for our customers to do business with us,” says MacKinnon. It has been through this commitment to the customer that Yale Lift Trucks of Florida & Georgia has been able to form lasting relationships with their customers. “We plan on bringing the same dedication and level of service to our JCB customers as we have for our Yale customers.”

JCB Launches New 515-40 Compact Telescopic Handler

Newest and most compact telehandler offers maneuverability, lifting height and power for smaller worksites

Leading heavy equipment manufacturer JCB is launching the most compact and maneuverable telescopic handler model the company has produced to date. This machine, the new JCB 515-40, is the result of an innovative design that keeps the machine’s overall height under six feet, making it perfect for use in more confined areas.

Small but mighty, the 515-40  is just 5’ 11” tall, 5’ 2” wide and 9’ 6” long and weighs 7,672 lbs. To achieve the lowest possible overall height, JCB challenged conventional design concepts and developed the 515-40 with an all-new, innovative, off-set single-spine main frame. As a result, the machine boasts a full-size cab with both easy accessibility and plenty of space for the operator. The new design enables the machine to break through a barrier that previously prevented many compact telescopic handlers from use in smaller workspaces. According to Chris Giorgianni, general manager of product marketing at JCB North America’s headquarters in Savannah, Ga., the extremely compact 515-40 can be effectively used at sites that could previously only be accessed by skid steer loaders.

515-40 can be effectively used at sites that could previously only be accessed by skid steer loaders.

“Our new 515-40 is small enough to provide the construction, agricultural and industrial markets with the many benefits offered by our telescopic handler range,” Giorgianni said. “This machine brings the maneuverability and power of the telescopic handler to nurseries, small farms, landscape contractors, building supply yards, warehouses and many other applications that can benefit from its 8’ 6” of forward reach and 13’ 2” of loading height.”

With a turning radius of just nine feet and very compact dimensions, the JCB 515-40 can maneuver in even the smallest work environments. Equipped with 4-wheel steering, 4-wheel drive, a hydrostatic transmission and exceptional ground clearance, the machine can easily traverse the challenging outdoor conditions often found at a landscaping job site or on the farm. Its 4-wheel drive system and hydrostatic transmission are designed to get the most power to each wheel. This is achieved by mounting the four drive motors in the axle hub, ensuring the power is exactly where the operator needs it. The drive train design ensures that the 515-40 is at home on the yard or running off-road in wet conditions.

515-40 can carry a hefty payload of 3,300 pounds up to a maximum lift height of 13’ 2”.

Powered by a 50 hp engine, the 515-40 can carry a hefty payload of 3,300 pounds up to a maximum lift height of 13’ 2”. This combination of features allows the JCB 515-40 to maximize storage space inside small buildings, enables it to load a truck from one side and even grants it access to the inside of a standard container to load it from one end.

“The 515-40 comes standard with a universal skid steer quick attach, opening it up to a vast range of attachments,” Giorgianni added. “This extra functionality combined with ease of operation makes the machine an ideal multi-tasker for any number of applications.”

515-40 may be small in stature, its unique, compact design does not skimp on operator comfort or safety.

While the 515-40 may be small in stature, its unique, compact design does not skimp on operator comfort or safety. The machine boasts a full-size canopy or an optional cab. When outfitted with a cab, the 515-40 also offers optional air conditioning and a deluxe suspension seat. Low noise level and both ROPS and FOPS protection provide additional health and safety benefits. Access to the cab is made easy by a low-level step and flat cab floor, ensuring easy entry and exit for the driver.

The development of the new 515-40 compact telescopic handler is yet another example of the JCB’s continued dedication to helping its customers get the job done. Wisconsin Couple Wins JCB Skid Steer Loader as Raffle Prize

With over 2,500 raffle tickets sold in the annual fundraiser hosted by St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in Oconomowoc, Wis., Jerry and Cathy Blanton thought they didn’t have a chance at winning. Their eight $50 raffle tickets were purchased primarily as a donation to St. Catherine’s, their home parish. No one was more shocked than the Blantons when one of their tickets was drawn as the grand prize winner during the annual St. Catherine’s Day at the Park.

“I couldn’t believe that we had won,” Jerry Blanton said. “I’m not a lucky person. This is the first thing I have ever won. Ironically, they called with the news on my birthday. That was quite the present!”

Jerry and Cathy, along with their son Thomas, are owners of TNT Rescue Systems, Inc. Located in Ashippun, Wis., TNT Rescue Systems manufactures high quality hydraulic rescue tools that rescue workers use to remove roofs and doors at car accident scenes.

After being announced as the winners of the raffle, Jerry and Cathy had to decide which prize to choose: $22,000, a new car, a John Deere tractor or a JCB Skid Steer Loader. Most of the previous raffle winners have chosen the cash, but Jerry and Cathy knew exactly what they wanted. “Cathy and I decided we wanted the JCB Skid Steer Loader before we even bought the raffle tickets,” Blanton explained. “I already have a skid loader, but it was old, and I wanted an upgrade. I know what these machines are capable of. It was an easy decision.”

Jerry and his son upgraded the winning skid steer, provided by fellow parishioner Cliff Anglewicz and his team at Yale Equipment and Services, to a high-flow JCB 170 model and added the snow blower and fork carriage attachments. All items were delivered to the Blantons last week.

The JCB 170 Skid Steer Loader’s compact and maneuverable design will make it easy for the Blantons to perform numerous tasks in both large and confined spaces. With a 50 hp motor and an operating capacity of 1,587 lbs, the JCB 170 is a powerful and durable machine that will benefit the Blanton’s business and farmstead in many ways.

“I’ll use it to clean up our 20-acre farm and perform regular maintenance,” Blanchard said. “It will definitely be used once it starts snowing. I’ll probably use it to clean the snow from the parking lot of my business too.”

According to Jerry and Cathy Blanton’s son Tom, the new JCB 170 is a vast improvement over their old outdated skid steer. “With the JCB’s unique monoboom design, it’s much easier and safer to get in and out of the machine using the side door,” Tom Blanton said.  “The servo hand controls make it more comfortable to operate, and I love that the cab is heated- that will come in especially handy as I remove snow during our cold Wisconsin winters!”
